Formalities

All baggage is subject to customs' check. Visitors are permitted to import the following for their personal use :

Cigarettes, 200 sticks; Cigars, 50 sticks; alcoholic liquor, one bottle not exceeding 1.15 litres; Beer, 12 cans; one binoculars; one movie camera with 12 rolls of film or one video camera; one ordinary camera with 15 rolls of film; one tape recorder with 15 tape reels or cassettes; one perambulator; one laptop computer. Carrying narcotics, arms and ammunitions are strictly prohibited.

Objects of archaeological or historical value may not be exported and should not be purchased. All metal statues and antique paintings, carpets and other objects must be checked out by the Department of Archaeology before being sent or carried out. Travel agents and craft dealers can assist you in the process. For any further information, contact the Department of Customs. Wild animals and their skins, horns, etc., all drugs whether processed or in their natural state, are prohibited for export.

Airport Tax

Rs. 600 per person for departure to SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation) Countries and Rs. 700 for departure to other international destinations. For domestic flights those flying within Nepal are required to Rs. 50.
