Seasons are:- hot from April-August, cold from
November-January with two brief warm periods in February-March and September-October. The
humid and tropical Terai receives the most monsoon rain recording the country's highest
temperature (over 39°C in Nepalgunj in May). The lower Hills (900-2,700 meters),
including the Kathmandu Valley, are subtropical, with hot summers and moderate winters
with occasional frost. The higher Hills (2,700-4,000 meters) are more temperate. As clouds
are frequently seen at this level, they get plenty of rain, fog, and frost. Above 4,000
meters, the Mountains have a cooler, drier alpine climate; daily temperatures drop 6°C for every
1,100 meters ascended.
